Hue:  The name of a color

Value: The relative lightness or darkness of a color

Saturation: The intensity of a color

Temperature: The physical or psychological heat suggested by a color’s hue

Contrast in color: Colors that are substantially different in hue value, intensity or temperature 

Symbolic color: A color that has been assigned a meaning.

Actual time: The duration of an event

Implied time: The suggested location or duration of an event

Viewing time: The time an audience devotes to watching or exploring an artwork

 Composition: The combination of multiple parts into a unified or harmonious whole

Grouping: Visual organization based on similarity on location, orientation, shape and color

Containment: A unifying force created by a boundary within a composition

Proximity: The distance between visual or structural elements or between an object and an audience

Repetition: The use of the same visual effect a number of times in the same composition

Closure: The minds inclination to connect fragmentary information to produce a completed form.

Grid: A visual or physical structure created from interconnecting parallel lines

Matrix: A three-dimensional grid

Scale:  A size relationship between two separate objects

Proportion: The relative size of visual elements within a composition

Emphasis: Special attention given to some aspect of a composition

Focal point:  A primary point in a composition

Anomaly: An obvious break from the norm in a design

Contrast: The degree of difference between compositional parts or between one image and another

Rhythm:  Presentation of multiple units in a deliberate pattern.

Tempo: The pace at which change occurs.
